Family of Robert 4 Bridge of Sandhurst, 1766-1855
Robert's life is well defined by church and chapel records but the link to the Smarden family rests simply on the fact that Robert 4 was born in the right place, two years after the marriage of Robert 3, and was (as expected for the first son) named after his father. He also had the same religious affiliation and followed the same trade.

It seems that James was the nephew of Robert; there is clearly a connection with the Particular Baptist tradition and James's daughter Sarah lived with (or visited) Robert.
