Much of the
information in this table originally came from Olive Holdstock, who
knew many of the family and maintained a correspondence with the
South African cousins. She gave me a copy of her genealogical
tables in 1952. My mother wrote regularly to Hilda Bridge in
Australia and both Hilda and Harold wrote to me in the 60's; they
must now all have died, apart from Harold's adopted daughter. I
know the Holdstock families in Kent, so those branches are
up-to-date. In 2002 I got in touch with Clayton Allsop (thanks to
the magic of the web) and so got more information on his branch of
the Allsops.
Karin van Blerck visited Binty Holdstock around 1979 and met us; the picture dates from that time. She provided me with my best photograph of James 2 Bridge of Ashford; recently her daughter Margaret Cox found this site in the course of her searches for family history material on the web and since then she and Ros Dachs have provided me with a full account of the Tanfield descendents, with many pictures.
